braden - 0 amox. allergy - 1

so, after all the fun of last week, saturday we see little mr. braden earle, with a slight rash @ tball.  i think its cuz of him being in the sun from a trip to the spray park on friday {bad mommy} but thankfully because of my post on facebook, and my oh-so-smart cousin the pharmacist, I was educated that Amox doesn't have issues with the sun, and it's either coincidence or an allergy...

yeah, allergy.

it happened to me when i was 9 mos preg with kellyn... head to toe rash, itchy and miserable.  i was not a happy camper.

so, it appears its the same rash that i had... only braden got it worse.

mine started on my wrist and slowly crept up and down from there...

braden's started on his head/neck/face and spread like wildfire to the rest of his body.

guess we need to update his files....

Allergy:  Amoxacillin

poor kid can't catch a break, and either can i!!

A Mother's Vacation.....

Where have I been?  What have I been doing??

Well, let's see..........

Worked Monday.  Worked Tuesday.  Worked Wednesday, went on my lunch break to pay a bill....  did that, and on my way back to work, "Braden's school" called.

{sinking feeling in my gut}

This means he's sick.... or should I say "sick".

"hello, mrs. earle, braden's teacher sent him down to the office, she thinks he has pink eye.  could someone pick him up?"

........pink eye, huh?  immediately i think allergies.  i mean, if you've been outside at all in the last, ohhh... month, it's been pretty horrible out there.

I get him from school, one eye has pretty much a fat green {booger} creepin' out of it and is all bloodshot looking.

FAN.TAS.TIC!!

The good thing is that i had drops from the last time he had it, so we went home, plopped a drop in, and hauled his buttocks to grandma's house, so that i could go back to work.

before bed, he tells me that his ear is "hurting".  Not on the inside, but on the earlobe.  hmmm....  {i disregard his "ploy" to stay up later, and send him to bed}

Thursday morning, he wakes up, and his ears are warm and "bumpy".  GA-REAT!  since it hasn't been 24 hrs with the pink eye deal, we were keeping him home in the morning anyways.  by 9am, i get a call from brian sayin the rash is moving down his neck.

RING, RING.... called the nurse, she said I should bring him in.

brian takes him to the dr, and we find out its STREP.  No sore throat, so yay!  now he's got drops from the dr (again) and Amox!  YIPPEE SKIPPY!

So, he doesn't go to school Thursday afternoon like we planned... but stays home.

Friday was supposed to be his "birthday treat" day, and his play in the afternoon that he's been workin on lines for at least 3 weeks.  He's bummed cuz the dr said he can't go to school....  (ha! we blew that off, and went to get treats, and took him for his play in the afternoon)  it had been "almost" 24 hrs of amox.... and we gave him a 1/2 dose early so he had a lil "kick" in his system.

As we're there...kellyn is getting whiny and clingy... and said she was cold.  {gulp}

So, as I'm sitting in the library taping the play for ms. w....  she passes out in a bean bag, covered up by my coat.  {double gulp}

The play finishes, we gather up things, she's crying and whiny....  oh, and feverish...  and we go home.

I get her on the potty....

at approximately 3pm.......  we have barfdown.  {and some splashdown on her shirt, too}

SUPERRRRRRRRRRR!

so, the day commenced with a clothing change, a shirt change, multiple towel changes to protect the couch, the viewing of 2 different strawberry shortcake dvds ATLEAST 3x each, Tangled atleast 3x and a little bit of the "annoying orange" on youtube.  {you apple!}

meanwhile, brian read an old ass book....  {insert frustration here}

in other news, he stayed downstairs to sleep with her, while i got to hog the bed to myself...

there was no more barfing after about 9pm {bummer?} and she woke up the next day bright eyed and bushy tailed.

too bad daddy didn't!

MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAH!

the rest of the weekend was filled with me staying home with kellyn while all 3 boys went to tball, then me leaving them all home for a while as i took a much needed shopping trip to the mall, sonic, and then we came back and "krogered" as a family....  (let me tell you, if someone would have offered me 2 cents, heck a PAPERCLIP for my boys in kroger....  i swear we would have taken it!)

What is it about kids and wanting to hop, skip, play tag, etc in grocery stores?  {please tell me its NOT just my kids}

Got the garden weeded, planted {sonic again for me} and the grass mowed at home.  It was a very eventful weekend....

almost like a vacation......

almost.......

yeah...... {no}

I can't believe I turned down the bar, daiquiris and a bonfire this weekend...

beer me!

Psuedo Single Mom Weekend #2

AHHHHHHH.............

If you are reading this, I've survived.  Well, so far.  Its only Sunday, hubby won't be home til Tuesday afternoon/evening sometime.  I CAN do this!

My weekend re-cap goes as follows:

Friday:  have the lil twerps and go to Soren's last day of school picnic.  Which is basically a pot-luck style lunch with lots of water games and playing.  Fun!  We got all sunscreened up, and let the day commence!  Survived, no Kellyn pee/poop accidents at school.  Went to the in laws to stop at a couple garage sales (this actually turned into 2 garage sales and drinking beer in the neighbor's driveway while chit-chatting.  Good times.  Went out to dinner with them and the kids, came home and "retired" for the night.  (OH, after a partly-successful tball sock hunt and purging the boys' drawers of their winter clothes.....  knock on wood)

Saturday: woke up, slowly got moving, breakfast done, kids cleaned up, only to realize at 9:08 that tball wasn't at 10:30, it was at 10:00.  And I still hadn't showered.... UGH!  Speed shower, get them dressed in uniforms and clothes, and basically zoom to the fields to get there in time.  {remember when I said I got all "sunscreened up" yesterday.... well, today I realized that I did a good job everywhere, except for in my hairline.... lets just say red scalp.}  We made it to the field with no major malfunctions.  Grandma/Grandpa and Aunt Susie were in attendance to see the boys play.  Braden was at the top of the order with Soren to follow.  Each of them hit well, and actually fielded a ball a piece.  YAY!

After tball we took off to grandma's for a sleep-over with susie while I had a wedding to photograph with Riana.  Got everything all set there, ran back home and got ready to go.  Loaded up the gear, hit Kroger on the way for a lil Sushi action for lunch, and photographed for 8ish hours.  Went out afterward to Beaver Creek (hush!) and had a late "dinnerish" snack and a couple drinks.....  then back home.  All went well.  Riana was on her way home around Midnight.  Hmmm....  where's the cat????

He didn't come down when I fed him.  I had a liiiiiiitttttttlllleeeee voice in the back of my head saying, "you know he's locked in a room/closet somewhere."  but I chose to ignore it.

BAD MOVE.

ahhhh, yeah.  He was shut in my room.  the first thing I was greeted with as I opened the door was the unmistakable smell of sh!t.  Yep.....  right next to my hope chest.  a Nero-sized pile-o-poo.....   oooh, and what's this I see????  a Nero-sized wet spot in the carpet next to my closet..  ARRRRGGGGGHHHHH!  It's freakin' midnight, I just wanna sleeeeeeeeeeeep!  But no, i'm on Excrement Clean-up Duty (doodie?) for the next 15 minutes.  As I walked in the door of my bedroom, he just did the "meowwww" at me.  Meow this you jackass!  I tried to close my door cuz he likes to yak up hairballs sometimes, and I prefer he doesn't do that in my room, let alone in my bed.  I guess that last time I ran up there to grab something, he stealthily snuck (is that a word?) into my room without me even realizing.  I shut the door and was on my way for the day.

So, I did a quick clean-up, deodorized with a nice smelling air freshener, closed the door to avoid cap'n poo cat and turned my fan on high.

OUT like a light....

Sunday:  slept in til 9:30 (whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!?!?)  well sorta.  brian decided to text me before 9.....  (argh!)  I could have been out til then no problem... but even from 5 states away, he knows when to bug me.  got up, showered, dressed, and out the door to get the kids at grandmas (with no coffee in me....  feel the pain.)  Kids were up, talked with the fam for a bit, then got the kids ready, grabbed some McD's for lunch (for them) and continued home.  After eating we {I}decided to get the pool out from behind the shed {yes, i braved the spiders so my kids could have fun} and got it all cleaned up so that they could play in the cold ass water in the 80 degree weather.  Worked out well.  Got the boys changed....  as they get ready to go outside, I hear Soren say, "Kellyn, you didn't have to pee in my room..."   {ughhhh!}  I get up and look.......  yup, pee.  on the floor by their closet.  I sniff.......   OH YEAH....  I got the deluxe hook-up!  In less than 24 hours, I get to clean up 2 piss spots and....  She sh!t herself too!  AWESOME~    (apparently my daughter and my cat have the same mentality..  pissing and sh!tting in bedrooms near the closet!  double thumbs up!)

I am pretty sure her Dora underwear weren't impressed.  I mean, Dora doesn't seem to be the type of girl who enjoys getting dirty.  Let alone coated in a 3 year old little girl's poo.  I bet she was just flinging curse words in Spanish all up and down Kellyn's crack!  You go, Dora....

I guess on the bright side... I hadn't put Kellyn in her swimming suit yet, so cleaning it out of underwear is a lil' easier than dealing with a wet, poopy swimming suit.......  {thank God that cup was half full.... lol}

Otherwise, besides the constant.... "mooom, he splashed me!"  .... "mooommmm, kellyn got me wet" ....."mooom..... i'm cold"  The pool was fun.

We then ate dinner, played outside for a bit in the front yard, did baths and {thank god} they are all knocked out by 9:03pm.  Guess that's the upside to letting them stay up at grandma's till 11:00 last night.....  the downside.....  THEY WERE SOO FREAKIN' WHINYYYYYYYYY!

and yes.... I do have a drink chillin' in the fridge.

i'm not an alcoholic, i swear.

LUCKY

Today I needed a clone.

The stars aligned just perfectly so to give me the gift of 2 big events for the boys, in 2 different places at {pretty much} the same time.

If you're a parent, or even human....  this has probably already happened to you.  If not, beware...  it will.

So my "clone" was my male counterpart, my husband.

We split duties, took 2 video cameras, and went our seperate ways.  I got to experience Soren's Preschool Graduation Ceremony from preschool in person while Brian got to see the spring concert for 1/2 of the 1st graders.

On my way there, I witnessed an accident literally RIGHT in front of me.  Had I driven even 2 mph faster, it would have been ME getting hit.  Talk about needing a clone!!  One of me would have had to sit there and wait for the police, while the other one would have continued on her way to preschool.

Thankfully...  I narrowly escaped the two {young} women basically t-boning the car in front of me.  I saw it all happen....  in fact, I pounded on my horn before the cars hit, in hopes of getting someone's attention.  But there was no way, it was too late.  I was a lil' freaked out, a lil' confused as what I was responsible to do as a witness, and a lil' pissed cuz I didn't want to miss the first of many "big things" in Soren's young life.

So, I slowly pulled around the cars (one was in my lane, the other was in the turning lane) rolled down my window to ask the girls if they were ok, only to be met with blank, shook-up stares and mumbling, and when I saw NO blood, or missing limbs, I drove away.

(i know what you're thinking....  i should have stayed!  BUT, I called my hubby to make sure I didn't HAVE TO, and he said I was fine to leave...  Graduating preschool only happens ONCE, ya know!)

And I'm glad I didn't stick around to wait for the police.

From first hand experience, the beautiful evening was the perfect setting for thirteen 4 year olds to half sing, half watch birds flying by and try to catch balloons tied to the fence.  We were educated on "how hard" it was to earn their "degree", the alphabet in sign language, 4 Jesus songs (this is a Lutheran preschool), the handing out of their diplomas, as well as an audience participation song.  OH, and a cute little cupcake with Soren's picture in a black cap and gown on it.

He was only disruptive a couple times by making fun of kids names (like father, like son?) and did a pretty good job over all.  He played with a couple friends, got his picture taken by what {very obviously} looked to be one of his GIRLFRIENDS, took a pic with his 2 teachers, grabbed a black balloon, and headed off to the next stop for the evening.

PROUD MOMMA.

We made it in time for {what i quickly learned} was one and a half songs of Braden's concert.  It took me til the last verse of the last song to even spot my kid on stage!  All because before we left the house Brian was gonna put him in a BROWN shirt... I get there and look at the stage and they're all in red, white and blue (do you see a theme, here?) AND I don't have my glasses.... so its a bunch of fuzzy people-like shapes with no faces.

DUMB MOMMA

After the concert was over, and I met brian outside the auditorium, he tells me that the letter his music teacher sent home earlier last week about Braden being picked to sing in a "group" really meant that him and 4 other kids were selected to stand in front of what looked like 70+ other little fuzzy people-like shapes on risers.  So he stood in front of all his peers, and the place with tons of his peers' family members staring up at him, and sang.  HE SANG.  For a short time on the video, I could actually make out his voice above the others.

PROUD MOMMA

This is significant because if you go back to his first experience with preschool, he was the kid that WOULD NOT participate in anything that had to do with music, circle time, etc....  he'd sit along the side of the room against the wall, and NOT even LOOK at the other kids as they did the "fun stuff".  It broke my heart to see him tune them out....  It made me wonder....

Today, sometimes, I still wonder....

But tonight, I didn't wonder.

I had PRIDE.

I had AMAZEMENT.

I had TEARS.

These boys of mine are growing up so quickly.  (Kellyn is too...)

It seems like only a "heartbeat" ago I was holding their tiiiiny hands as I nursed them.  Where does time go?

In a "heartbeat" he paths of those two drivers crossed right in front of me.  Their broken and smashed cars showing me just how things can change.  Luckily, it appeared as if there were no serious injuries.  The cars were cleaned up, the people involved all got to go home safely....

Be glad you are given every second with your family.  Those "heartbeats" keep coming, you can't stop them.  One day its wishing for a clone to be in 2 places at once, the next its high school graduation, and they are off on their own...

I am grateful for what I have.

LUCKY MOMMA
