So today is my BEST FRIEND Melanie's birthday. She has turned 21 for the last 10 years now... {just like me} She's one of the best friends a girl could ask for!
We've been acquaintances since 7th grade, friends since probably 8th.... My senior year, I moved in with her and her dad so I didn't have to change schools my SENIOR year when my family moved away. I went off to 2 years of college @ SCSU {GO HUSKIES} and moved back in with her during the summer...
UNTIL:::
I moved to Michigan in May of 2000 and have been stuck here ever since! We introduced HER DAD to MY HUSBAND'S SISTER.... and a little over a year later.... they got MARRIED.
So now, my bestie is {technically} my NIECE by marriage. So, our relationship {and family} is a little pretzel like... twisted.
Since moving to Michigan, we've had times when we've hardly talked for months, and times were we talked quite often. But the perk to having Melanie in my family is that I get to see her WAY more often than my other close friends from home, cuz she's at family gatherings!!
I just want you to know Mel, that even as tough as this year has been for me, it's good to know that I have a friend that I can pick up and talk to like we saw each other yesterday...
I truly feel that the friendships that you make in your adolescence can't be duplicated. Things were easier then. Friends were the main part of life, you probably spent more time with them, than you did with your own family!
To all my friends out there::::
Know that I love you, and truly value the impact you had {have} in my life.
And to you, Melanie....
hahahahahhahahahahahha

Such an attractive pic of Melanie in the white shirt. Ask her about the Tequila shot the other night! - Andrea
